Noah explores measurement as he combines the ingredients for challah.  Sarah experiments with rhythm as she shakes her grogger while listening to the Megillah.  Sophie is introduced to the wonders of science when she grows her own parsley for the Passover Seder.  In the Lerner School Preschool program, play leads to exploration, discovery, and learning.

Each classroom is a bakery, an art and music room, a math and science lab, a library, a construction site, a performing arts theater, and a family, home, and community, where children can experience first hand what it’s like to be an artist, author, chef, naturalist, mathematician, scientist, architect, teacher, mom, dad, and friend.

Our curriculum is a dynamic blend of theme, interest, and skill-based activities designed to provide hands-on learning experience that enhance a child’s cognitive, language, gross and fine motor, creative, and social and emotional development.  A typical day includes a blend of free choice activities/centers, teacher directed activities, small and large group activities, gross motor play, language arts/story time, math, science, social studies, and Judaics.

Our classrooms offer each child many incredible opportunities to be actively engaged, as they use their senses to learn about the world around them.  Active learning greatly contributes to a child’s love of learning, which is essential for all childrens’ development.

Weaving Judaism into Each Day

Hebrew and Judaics are joyfully integrated into the Preschool experience through storytelling, art projects, cooking and song time. Jewish holidays are happily celebrated through activities and customs designed to introduce preschoolers to their rich Jewish culture.

Keeping Parents Involved

Our Preschool parents have many ways to share in their children’s school experience.

  • Preschool web page: updated weekly with photos and descriptions of weekly activities
  • Parent/teacher conferences: held each Fall and Spring, and progress reports are sent out three times per year
  • Access to teachers: always available to talk to you about your child’s progress
