Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Below is an overview of our 5th grade curriculum.

Language Arts

Students are taught to express their ideas effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing. The emphasis of the reading program shifts to reading to acquire information rather than learning to read. In 5th grade the students continue developing their skills of writing personal narratives, essays and expository, persuasive and creative writing.
Ongoing units of study include: vocabulary; spelling; grammar, mechanics of writing, proofreading and publishing.
