Financial Scholarship
At the Lerner School, we are committed to building a diverse school community by making a Lerner School education accessible to families who require financial scholarship.
Eligibility for our financial scholarship program is based on the demonstrated financial need of our families, as determined by Lerner School’s confidential and independent financial assessment service, Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS).
One third of Lerner School families currently receive financial scholarship.
To apply:
- Indicate your interest in learning more about our financial scholarship program on the student application form.
- Visit TADS.com to register your family’s account.
- Submit your scholarship application online to TADS no later than January 20th for full consideration. TADS will review your completed application and provide Lerner School with a recommendation.
- Consult with the Financial Scholarship FAQ, or contact our Business Manager for any questions or concerns you may have.
Preschool financial scholarships are available for those families who also have a child enrolled in the elementary school. Limited scholarships are offered to families with children only in the preschool.
All financial scholarship inquiries and applications are strictly confidential. Scholarship decisions are made in early spring. The Lerner School will notify families of scholarship and admissions decisions together, although the processes for admissions and financial scholarships are independent of each other.
Our financial scholarship program is generously supported by the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation and two endowment funds: the Sam Fuchs Endowment for Financial Aid and the Albert and Adeline Gelb Fund.
